Hot Stone Therapy

Hot stone therapy uses smooth, flat stones that are heated to a particuler temperature using hot water. River rocks are selected for this treatment because the rivers moving water makes them smooth. These stones need to be high in iron which helps them retain heat longer.

Therapists place the stones in key areas of the body to relax the muscle and are then able to use more pressure to release tension. The stones are also used as a tool to apply soothing pressure to more difficult areas. The warmth of the stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system.

Some therapists apply them to areas that are believed to be energy spots, this is done to bring balance to the mind and body.
